I am truly happy that my lovely friend Nicky Haslam introduced me to Lucian Freud. Nicky decided to give him a birthday party in my house in Cheyne Walk, the last birthday of his life. I was duly sent an invitation and replied of course yes. The party was wonderful, Lucian was surrounded by family and close friends. Kate Moss came, Nicky sang all night, sometimes with Kate Moss. It was an incredible evening and may be the best in my life. It was certainly up there. Lucian looked truly happy, good looking and well. I am happy he came to this house. The greatest 20th/21st Century artist. Of course I loved his work, his brush stroke, the intense looks of his sitters. May your spirit live on and thank you Nicky Haslam for doing this wonderful evening for him.
